Indian Subcontinent
The Indian Subcontinent straddles a number of countries in South Asia, stretching from the Himalayas in India, Bhutan and Nepal, east towards the mangroves and tea plantations in Bangladesh and as far south as the tropical beaches of Sri Lanka. It is a region brimming with immensely rich culture and some of the best scenery anywhere on earth.
Intro
Some of the world's oldest civilisations took root here and two of the world's great religions - Hinduism and Buddhism - were born here. Spirituality is very much intertwined in daily life, and a journey to the Subcontinent will bring you face-to-face with the people who still practise ancient customs. This can be witnessed in Bhutan's remote Buddhist monasteries and in towering temples and sacred rivers across India.
Due to its diverse terrain, the Subcontinent is blessed with an abundance of flora and fauna. Experience the steamy jungles of India and Sri Lanka on a wildlife safari, trek in the Himalayan valleys of Nepal and Bhutan, and navigate the Sundarbans mangroves in Bangladesh.Â
The Indian Subcontinent is also a region of contrasts and contradictions, where some of the world's richest and poorest live and work side-by-side. Nonetheless, it is the warmth and hospitality of the people who make any trip to this part of the world truly memorable, ensuring you will want to return time and again.

Why travel with us ?
In our opinion, the Indian Subcontinent is without doubt the most diverse region on earth, which is why it's no surprise we have developed a wide range of tours taking in both the highlights as well as the plenty of off-beat places still not on more standard tourist trails. Depending on your style of travel and time, you could combine any number of countries you wish as part of a multi-country trip to this region or do a standalone trip in a single country. The options are almost endless. Our travels have taken us to the sites of ancient civilisations in the Indus Valley and through cities which still preserve reminders of the country's complex colonial history. Given the diversity of its terrains, there is no such thing as a dull journey in this part of the world, and we have travelled through mountains, hills, jungles, deserts and beaches. It is these very experiences that we have sought to include in our itineraries so you too can experience the same.
Religion also plays a fundamental role in daily life and this can be witnessed throughout the Subcontinent through its ornate temples, colourful festivals and sacred rivers where people still congregate. With a festival probably taking place almost every day somewhere in the Subcontinent, some of our trips are scheduled to coincide with a festival, and if you are doing a private trip we strongly recommend timing your trip to witness these spectacles - whether it be Diwali (Festival of Lights) in North India and Nepal, the Pushkar and Bikaner camel fairs in Rajasthan, the Hornbill Festival in remote Nagaland or a traditional Buddhist masked dance festival in Bhutan - to name just a few.
Nature and wildlife lovers are spoilt for choice with the Indian Subcontinent providing the best chance of spotting some of the rarest and most endangered animals on earth. We offer small group and private wildlife tours where you will hopefully see tigers, one-horned rhinos, Asiatic lions, leopards, wild elephants and a mind-boggling array of bird life. We can arrange standalone wildlife trips or you can incorporate a wildlife experience as part of a varied trip to the region.Â
With perhaps the exception of Bhutan, the Subcontinent can often seem a hectic place, which is why we also suggest unwinding at the end of your adventure on one of its many beaches. India boasts thousands of kilometres of coastline, and Sri Lanka's palm-fringed beaches are renowned the world over. Or escape to cooler climes in a little-visited hill station or stay in a luxury property perched high in the Himalayas.Â
We have been constantly impressed by the high quality boutique accommodation available here - from heritage properties and luxurious houseboats to luxury camps, exotic jungle lodges and nature retreats. For mid-range options there are plenty of high quality hotels and guesthouses to choose from.
Using local guides, we ensure you get a local perspective of the places you will visit, and where possible we also incorporate locally-owned accommodation and homestays, so that the very people who make this part of the world so special also benefit directly from your time there. In fact we often hear from our clients that some of their most memorable moments have come from having a chat with local people over a steaming cup of masala chai or a home-cooked meal.Â
With so many options to choose from we understand it might be difficult to know where to start if planning a trip to the Indian Subcontinent. Don't hesitate to contact us and one of our Indian Subcontinent travel specialists will be more than happy to help.
